Kurdish uses a Latin alphabet that's mostly phonetic — what you see is what you say. The letters with diacritics (â, ê, î, û, ş, ç) each have a single, consistent sound, so once you learn them you can read any Kurdish word out loud, including Şev baş.

When you'd use it
