Kurdish uses a Latin alphabet that's mostly phonetic — what you see is what you say. The letters with diacritics (â, ê, î, û, ş, ç) each have a single, consistent sound, so once you learn them you can read any Kurdish word out loud, including nan.

When you'd use it

nan is a foundational foodword — one of the first 30 or so words you'll encounter in any beginner Kurmanji course. Native speakers use it dozens of times a day, so it pays to learn it properly with audio rather than just reading the spelling.
